This resource provides information about the COPD360social, the COPD Foundation’s online social platform for engagement throughout the research process. The platform is a free extensive social networking site which provides a platform for COPD patients, their families and caregivers to interact, support one another while receiving information about COPD and appropriate research studies.  Since its launch in November 2014, over 35,000 individuals have joined COPD360social with upwards of 300 individuals joining each week. This engagement platform serves as a vital tool for engaging stakeholders (patient partners, healthcare providers, family members and caregivers) to support, help generate ideas, provide feedback and participate in meaningful research.

The COPD Foundation and the COPD PPRN team utilize this platform for engagement through:

  • Crowdsourcing different topics
  • Voting and ranking functionality to help with prioritization of research topics and overall priorities for the community
  • Online focus groups
  • Distributing surveys for feedback on different topics
  • Educating individuals on research and opportunities for participating in research
