This is an informational packet for CDRNs, PPRNs, health system leadership, clinicians, and researchers to describe, disseminate, and generally support the Smart Patients Weight Management Community. While not clearly a method or plan to disseminate research results to patients, there are some aspects of the packet that relate to dissemination. First, there are ideas about disseminating information about Smart Patients, explaining that methods will differ by network while offering some concrete examples – a memo introducing Smart Patients, sample email/letter language, sign up “widgets” for organizational websites, etc. Two specific examples – a sign up “widget” on the Bariatric study website and an email to the REACHnet patient registry Health in Our Hands introducing Smart Patients – methods for communicating about Smart Patients. One overall value proposition of Smart Patients to PCORnet, according to the authors, is for PCORnet to partner with the community to interpret and disseminate research findings. One way that the community can help PCORnet disseminate findings is by establishing patient forums for posting reactions to and engaging in conversations about study findings.
