I am a PhD student in Public Health and research ethics. I have studied ethics of community engagement for a decade, including around genetic research and with Alaska Native and American Indian communities. My dissertation explores concepts of researcher trustworthiness, and institutional barriers to meeting communities’ expectations for trustworthiness. I also assist an NIH-funded project to explore ethics of APOL1 genetic testing for kidney disease risk in African Americans.
